Northland Cares offers support to clients through support groups and peer support.
Flagstaff Support Groups
Prescott Support Groups
Northland Cares trains volunteers to provided one-on-one support to clients. These peer support "buddies" help clients overcome social isolation, troubleshoot issues, and connect clients to resources.
Care coordination is provided by the Site Coordinators in Flagstaff and Prescott. The Site Coordinators work closely with Case Managers in Yavapai and Coconino Counties to assure that Northland Cares consumers have access to all available programs and services. Programs and services include such things as case management, support groups, buddy program, educational and social activities, client closet and the vitamin and supplement program. Care coordination also includes information and referrals to other programs available outside of the County Health Departments and Northland Cares. Emergency Housing and Utility Assistance
This service is supported by a Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) grant from the Arizona Department of Housing and has mandated income eligibility guidelines. HOPWA-eligible clients can access rent and utility assistance, some transportation and housekeeping assistance as defined by the parameters of the program.
Client Closets
Northland Cares maintains client closets with food and personal care items to give practical support to clients. Any Northland Cares' HIV + client is eligible for this program. If not an established client, then you must provide proof of HIV status. To access the program, call or visit the Northland Cares site near you.
Clients can access products in the client closet a maximum of one time per month. Each client can choose 3 (three) items from each product category: paper products, cleaning products and personal hygiene products. Products typically stocked in the Northland Cares Client Closet are items that cannot be purchased with food stamps. Products will include toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, soaps (laundry, kitchen and bath), shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and other personal hygiene items.
